Barangay Ramon Magsaysay was originally called Bariri from an indigenous grass abundant in the locality. It is a sitio of Tagpait.
Way back during the pre-war days, people settled along the coastal area of Sulu Sea. Their means of transportation was either by banca or by foot. An enterprising Spanish couple. Don Cirilo and Dona Sabina Matilda were foreigner who settled in the area. They engaged in logging concession because of the virgin forest there. In the middle fifties, the National Rehabilitation Reconstruction Administration was established by the late President Ramon Magsaysay, one of his projects is giving land for the landless. A national highway was constructed from Poblacion to Narra, thousands of landless families from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao flocked at Narra.
A petition to the President of the Philippines was submitted for the creation of Barrio Ramon Magsaysay under the leadership of Lieutenant Consolacion D. Arzaga and was approved on 1962 with Mayor Ricardo Valdevieso of Aborlan.
A primary school was established on 1964 and is now a complete elementary with seven teachers
