The name “Apurawan” sprang from the words “Apo” which means Ancestor and “Puraw-Puraw”, a Tagbanua term which means afraid.

 According to the ancestor, the primitive inhabitants of the place were the Tagbanuas. They lived in mountains and cave and considered as illiterate or uncivilized people. They were afraid of foreign people who migrated in their place. According to them, Muslim are commonly migrating in their place. They seized the Tagbanuas and treated as slaves. Because of this, they were afraid and move out from their place to find another place to hide on. When the Visayan and Cuyunos migrated into the place they improve and formalized the name Apurawan and subsequently organized one Barangay. The Visayan and Cuyuno won the love and respect of the natives. The natives live with them cooperate and contribute for the progress.
