Once upon a time, there was a couple named Ga’sing Dengen and Ka’tit Dengen who travelled from Barangay Berong, Quezon, and Palawan going east. They travelled the high mountains of Ma’gong and Ka’apalangan and followed Abelnan River until they reached Barangay Barake. They did not stay long in Barake and they went back going west until they found a rich plain near Abelnan River (Aborlan River) and at the tip of this river was a cool creek of Tablay. They found out that the river was clean and the soring was a good source of drinking water. So here, the Dengen couple together with their five children lived in the place. They cleared the said plain and made kaingin and built their shelters. They called this place, “kabigaan” which mean a place of plentiful “Biga” until now it was called “Cabigaan”.
