The term “Gogognan” was derived from Tagbanua word “cogon” which abundantly grown in the area.
Based from the interview conducted to the oldest man who live in the said Barangay (Patab) for a long time ago, the Barangay Gogognan was formerly called as “BULO-BULO” a name delivered from kind of tree. Years before, the place rich in flora and fauna. The Tagbanua Tribes settled here severally to secure their livelihood by doing kaingin from rich forest land. Due to kaingin system, the Bulo-Bulo trees and other fruit species were destroyed which finally resulted to existence of cogon grasses in most area of Barangay. From the time, the place was finally called GOGOGNAN.
