The name Jose Rizal was originated after the name of Dr. Jose Rizal, the National Hero. The creation of Jose Rizal as Barangay cannot be traced up to the present for the absence of record to confirm.
Formerly, Barangay Jose Rizal is one of the sitios of Barangay Apoc-apoc. Due to the increase of migration of settlers from Luzon and Visayas in 1957. The inhabitants agreed to become a district Barangay headed by Antionio Garcia from Luzon and Rizalino Calvo from Visayas.
In 1959, Solomon Padilla was appointed as the first Teniente del Barrio for three (3) years (1959-1962). He established the first primary school in 1961. Rizalina Tabang was the first teacher.
